On June 12, 2017, BugandaWatch received an email update on the current conditions of the Abazaana serving in Kasubi Royal Tombs. The issue that is most worrying to Abazaana is increased risk to their personal security and that of the Tombs facilities.

The increased risk is caused by the fact that electric lights in the homes of the Kasubi Tombs residents also recently broke and Mengo has not indicated when they may be repaired, if ever.

On July 2, 2016, BugandaWatch reported that the perimeter lights had stopped working, leading to the theft of valueable equipment, including fire extinguishers for the houses in the compound (See: Kasubi Royal Tombs solar plant might be stolen due to lack of security)
